(45-854) We wrap up our Sun series the way we come in - roarin' w/ Carl Perkins (this time w/ Jerry Lee on piano!) b/w the ULTIMATE Carl cop by Warren Smith! I well recall the first time I heard Put Your Cat Clothes On...a musical epiphany! One night in the early 70s, I was (in Sun lingo) drinkin' wine, a little bourbon too at my friend Joannie's house listening to the radio and suddenly the DJ (Gus Gossert maybe?) sez he's gonna play a Carl Perkins song thatd just been found in the Sun vaults! I stared at the radio in disbelief as it blasted and when the toon ended, I was so devastated it felt like I took an Ali punch to the jaw! Despite my intoxication level, I had the wherewithall to scribble "Perkins - Put Your Cat Clothes On" on the bottom of my sneaker so I'd know it wasn't a crazy dream! Let's hope this series can do some similar skullbustin'!
