SOLD OUT (Norton 411 CD) DION - KICKIN' CHILD
The lost 1965 Columbia album arrives- 52 years later! Here it is on compact disc with all of Dion's blueswailin', folk-blazin', rock n' stormin' monsters, track after track after track. Cut in '65 with producer Tom Wilson on all but three tracks, this album was slated, then shelved, for reasons that come to light in Scott Kempner's illuminating liners. Whoever's got the crown, label it DIMUCCI and express it to Dion, with love. Absolutely ESSENTIAL. Also available on vinyl LP and pick up the 45 RPM vinyl single (non-LP b-side)!

1965 Dion Album
I probably have every Dion album from early on to latest. I have always been a fan. My favorite is the 1972 Reunion album at Madison Square Garden. I have so many favorite individuals songs. This album is just so-so to me. I am glad I bought it, but nothing seems to stand out so that I will replay it over many times - (like the song "In Susan's Eyes" for instance.) I have been to a number of live concerts of his over the years and would never miss a chance to see more. So the bottom line for me is 1965 was more of a "redefining myself" year for him. Dion, you are my all-time favorite vocalist.

A must for Dion fans.
As I've gotten older, I've begun to question my long-held assumptions about who the greatest white rock and roll singer of the first generation really was. I've always felt Elvis wore the belt, so to speak, but over the last five years I've come to believe that, for versatility, sheer singing ability, and rock and roll EDGE, Dion's more than a match for the King. This great comp of mostly Tom Wilson-produced tracks that have only rarely escaped the vaults just gives more credence to my switch. While there are a few somewhat sappy slower tracks here (given the time, there would have to be), even those are sung, played, and produced well, and sandwiched with the great rockers, which do in fact evoke those early Wilson-produced Dylan sides, they go down easy. The title tune is classic, "Two-Ton Feather" a trip that might easily be confused with a '65 Dylan composition, and the stripped down "Can't Help Wonder Where I'm Bound" the yearning track you just gotta have on a DiMucci record. Neat liner notes by Scott Kempner.

Kickin' Child
I've enjoyed this music since it's slow release began in 1965. To have it all in one place, properly released, lovingly remixed is fantastic. This has long been my favorite music. Kudos to Norton Records for finally bringing this music into the light!

This record is great!!!
Dion is a personal favorite and this album finally does justice to his mid 1960s Columbia legacy. If you love Dylanesque folk rock, this LP is for you.
